🏁 Get started: Installation
Welcome! Here are the steps to download, install and start using Hjulius Mini.
-
Download the installation file.
If you have not already done so, download the installation file using the link in your email. Once the file has been downloaded, your browser (e.g. Chrome or Edge) may warn you about it. You may need to click "Keep" or "Allow" to save it.
-
Run the installation file.
Find the file you downloaded (usually in your Downloads folder) and double-click it to start the installation.
-
Handle the Windows SmartScreen warning.
Because the program is new, Windows SmartScreen may show a warning dialog that blocks it from running. This is a normal Windows security feature.
- Click the "More info" text link in the warning dialog.
- A new button, "Run anyway", appears. Click it to start the installation.
-
Choose your license file.
The first time the program starts, the "License missing" dialog appears. Click "Choose file…" and point to the license file you received from Formac. The file is copied next to the program, so you only need to do this once. The license file is required to use the program, so have it ready.
-
Log in with your customer number.
At every startup you enter your customer number in the "Enter your customer number" box and click OK. The customer number is tied to your license. Tick "Save your customer number" to skip this step next time. You can undo it later in Administration with "Remove saved customer number".
-
First configuration.
When the installation is finished, start Hjulius Mini. Go to "Administration" if you want to change the app language or choose the print format.
-
Make a test print.
Go to "Tyre labels" and try printing a tyre label to verify that everything works.
🧩 Features in Hjulius Mini
Hjulius Mini is focused on quick and easy tyre label printing. Here is a closer look at the main features and settings.
Print a single tyre label
Go to "Tyre labels" to fill in information such as customer number, registration number, storage location and date, and print professional tyre labels directly. You can choose a single tyre position or tick "Print all four tyres", and set "Extra copies:" if needed. In ZPL mode you choose the printer in the "Select printer" dialog when printing.
Import a tyre list
You can import a list of tyres and print all labels at once. Switch to the "Import and print tyre labels" mode, use the included CSV template ("Download CSV template"), fill in your own tyre details and click "Import". Then click "Print all rows" (or "Preview" first). "Clear" empties the list.

On the administration page you can configure the app to suit your needs:
- Change the language: Choose the preferred language for the app interface.
-
Choose the print format: This controls how the app communicates with your label printer.
- Automatic mode (ZPL): This is the recommended and easiest option. The app uses ZPL (a "language" made specifically for label printers) to automatically handle settings such as rotation and size. It saves time and minimizes the risk of errors.
- Text mode: Choose this only if the printout does not look right with ZPL mode (e.g. if the text is misplaced). Tick "Print as text instead of ZPL". You then need to set the size etc. yourself in the printer’s print settings.
Here you can also check for updates ("Check for updates") and remove a saved customer number ("Remove saved customer number").
Webshop and Help Center
The left menu has a "Webshop" button that opens the Formac webshop (to order labels, printers and ribbons) and a "Help Center" button that opens this help page in your browser.
🛠️ Troubleshooting
Problems with printing? Here are the most common solutions.
"Nothing is printed at all."
- Check that the printer is switched on and that no error lights are on.
- Restart both the app and the printer.
- Try printing a test page from Windows to confirm that the printer works.
- Try printing as text instead of ZPL. Change this in Administration.
"The text is misaligned or cut off."
- This is almost always caused by incorrect printer settings or the wrong label format.
- If you use "Text" mode: go to Printer settings in Windows and make sure the paper size (label size) is set correctly.
- If you use "ZPL" mode: check that the correct printer is selected in the "Select printer" dialog. Calibration is done on the Zebra printer itself (feed button/driver), not in Hjulius.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Where can I find drivers for my Zebra printer? ▼
Download the latest official drivers directly from Zebra’s support page.
The printout is too light/dark. How do I adjust the darkness? ▼
If the darkness needs to change and you print as ZPL, you can try switching to printing as text. Change this in Administration by ticking the "Print as text instead of ZPL" box. You can then adjust the darkness (lighter or darker) in the printer’s normal settings in Windows (under "Printing preferences").
How do I update the program? ▼
If a new update is available, the program shows a message at startup. You can also check this from Administration. Follow these steps:
- Choose to download the update from the window that appears.
- When the download is finished, close Hjulius Mini.
- Run the downloaded update file. You may need to approve the Windows SmartScreen warning, just like during the first installation.
- Important: when the installer asks where to install the program, choose the same folder you originally installed it in.
The update then overwrites the old version, and your shortcuts continue to work as usual.
What is the customer number I enter at startup? ▼
It is the company customer number, tied to your license. You enter it in the "Enter your customer number" box at startup. Tick "Save your customer number" to avoid entering it every time.
How do I print many labels at once? ▼
Open "Tyre labels" and switch to the "Import and print tyre labels" mode. Download the CSV template, fill it in, click "Import" and then "Print all rows".
Which printers does it work with? ▼
Tyre labels are normally printed on a Zebra label printer (ZPL). If you choose text mode, other printers can also be used, but then you need to adjust the printer settings yourself.
Do I need internet to use the program? ▼
No. The program does not need internet for activation or for daily use. Internet is only used for updates.
