🏁 Get started: Installation

Welcome! Here are the steps to download, install and start using Hjulius Mini.

  1. Download the installer.

If you haven’t already done so, download the installer from the link you received in your email. When the file has been downloaded, your browser (for example Chrome or Edge) may warn you about the file. You may have to click “Keep” or “Allow” to save it.

  2. Run the installer.

Locate the file you downloaded (usually in your Downloads folder) and double-click it to start the installation.

  3. Handle the Windows SmartScreen warning.

Since the software is new, Windows SmartScreen may show a warning dialog and block it from running. This is a normal Windows security feature.

    • Click the “More info” link in the warning dialog.
    • A new button, “Run anyway”, appears. Click it to start the installation.

  4. First configuration.

When the installation is finished, start Hjulius Mini. Go to “Administration” if you want to change the language in the app.

  5. Make a test print.

Go to “Tyre labels” and try printing a tyre label to verify that everything is working correctly.

Administration and settings

On the Administration page you can configure the app to suit your workshop:

  • Change language: Choose the language for the app interface.
  • Choose print mode: This controls how the app communicates with your label printer.
    • Automatic mode (ZPL): This is the recommended and easiest option. The app uses ZPL (a “language” specifically made for label printers) to automatically handle settings such as rotation and size. This saves time and reduces the risk of errors.
    • Text mode: Choose this option only if the printout doesn’t look correct with the automatic ZPL mode (for example if the text is misplaced). You need to set the size, etc., yourself in the printer’s print settings.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

Problems with your printouts? Here are the most common solutions.

“No labels are printed at all.”

  • Check that the printer is switched on and that no error lights are lit.
  • Restart both the app and the printer.
  • Try printing a test page from Windows to confirm that the printer works.
  • Try printing as text instead of ZPL. Change this in the Administration settings.

“The text is skewed or cut off.”

  • This is almost always caused by incorrect printer settings.
  • If you use Text mode: go to the printer settings in Windows and make sure the paper size (label size) is set correctly.
  • If you use ZPL mode: try recalibrating the printer.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question: Where can I find drivers for my Zebra printer? ▼

Answer: Download the latest official drivers directly from Zebra’s support page .

Question: The printout is too light or too dark. How do I adjust the darkness? ▼

Answer: If you need to change the darkness and you’re printing using ZPL, you can try switching to Text mode. You change this in the app’s Administration settings by ticking the checkbox to print as text. You can then adjust the darkness (lighter or darker) in the printer’s normal settings in Windows (under “Printing preferences”).

Question: How do I update the software? ▼

Answer: If a new update is available, Hjulius Mini will show a message when the program starts. You can also check for updates from the Administration page. Follow these steps:

  1. Choose to download the update from the window that appears.
  2. When the download is finished, close Hjulius Mini.
  3. Run the downloaded update file. You may need to approve the Windows SmartScreen warning, just as during the first installation.
  4. Important: When the installation asks where to install the program, make sure you choose the same folder where you originally installed Hjulius Mini.

The update will then overwrite the old version, and your shortcuts will continue to work as before.
