🏁 Get started with Hjulius Solo

Hjulius Solo is designed to bring customer records, tyre sets, storage locations and printing together in one program. Here is a simple way to get started.

  1. Download the installation file.

If you have not already done so, download the installation file using the link you received by email. Once the file has been downloaded, your browser may warn you about it. You may need to choose to keep or allow the file.

  2. Run the installation file.

Find the file, for example in your Downloads folder, and double-click it to start the installation.

  3. Handle Windows SmartScreen if needed.

If Windows shows a warning, it is usually SmartScreen. Choose "More info" and then "Run anyway" to continue.

  4. Start Hjulius Solo and create the first administrator.

The first time the program is used, you create the first administrator account. After that, users log in with a username and password.

  5. Go to Administration and complete the basic settings.

We recommend entering your company details, selecting the language and checking the print settings before you start using the program for real.

  6. Create a test customer and a first tyre set.

A good first step is to create a customer, connect a tyre set to that customer, choose a storage location and test saving the data.

  7. Make a test print.

Print a tyre label and, if you use that workflow, also a receipt. This lets you verify that everything is working properly.

🧩 Features in Hjulius Solo

Hjulius Solo is more than label printing. The program is built around a complete workflow for customers, tyre sets, storage and administration.

Overview and quick start

When you open Hjulius Solo, you are greeted by an overview page that helps you continue to common workflows. This makes it easier to quickly find the right function, especially for new users.

The left menu also includes a Help Center button that opens the help page in your browser.

Login and users

Hjulius Solo uses user accounts with permissions. The first time the program is used, the first administrator account is created. After that, users log in with a username and password.

Administrators can create additional users and assign different roles, such as standard users or read-only users. This lets you control who is allowed to make changes in the program.

Customer register

Under Customers, you can search the customer register, create new customers and update existing information. This is where you collect customer number, name, contact person, addresses, phone, email and other details.

The customer view also works as a hub for the customer’s tyre sets. From there, you can open an existing tyre set or create a new one directly for the selected customer.

Tyre sets

Tyre sets are the core of Solo. Here you can search through sets and view information such as customer number, customer name, registration number, season, status, check-in and check-out dates, brand, dimension and storage location.

When you open a tyre set, you can link it to a customer and storage location, enter vehicle information, season, studded or non-studded, tyre brand, model, dimension, DOT, price information and notes. You can also add any number of tyre rows with tyre position and tread depth.

For each tyre set, you can also:

  • Print tyre labels.
  • Print a receipt.
  • Change check-in and check-out dates.
  • Use the tread depth report.
  • Attach images and notes to the set.

For label workflows, the Tyre Labels menu option also supports import. You can use a CSV template to prepare data in a standardized format.

Storage and storage locations

Under Storage, you manage your storage locations. You can search, create, open and update storage locations with name, warehouse/area, description and active status.

When you select a storage location, the tyre sets stored there are shown. This makes it easier to quickly get an overview of what is stored in a specific place and to track which sets are checked in or checked out.

Administration

Under Administration, you manage the settings that affect the entire program. Here you can enter company details such as name, address, phone number and organization number, and choose the language for the whole app.

Administrators also have access to several tools, for example:

  • User management and permissions.
  • Viewing logs.
  • Exporting customers to CSV.
  • Importing an old database or CSV data.
  • Editing the default receipt text and logo.
  • Manual program update checks.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

Here are common issues and what you can do about them.

"It is not possible to log in."

  • If the program is brand new, make sure the first administrator has been created.
  • If the admin account needs to be restored, you can contact Formac for a recovery code.

"Some buttons are greyed out or cannot be used."

  • You may be logged in with a role that only has read access.
  • Contact the administrator if you need a user account with permission to change or delete information.

"No tyre label is printed at all."

  • Make sure printing is sent to the correct printer.
  • Restart both the app and the printer.
  • Try printing a test page from Windows to confirm that the printer is working.

"The text is misaligned or cut off."

  • This is often caused by printer settings or the wrong label format.
  • If you have selected text printing, check the paper size and print settings when printing.
  • If you are using ZPL, try calibrating the label printer.

"I cannot delete a storage location."

  • If the storage location is used by tyre sets, those sets must first be moved or closed.
  • Alternatively, the storage location can be marked as inactive instead of deleted until no tyre sets remain there.

"I am unsure whether a customer should be deleted."

  • When a customer is deleted, the customer’s linked tyre sets and tyres are deleted as well.
  • Always make sure that both the customer and the linked tyre sets should be removed before confirming deletion.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I create the first administrator?

The first time Hjulius Solo is used, a setup view is shown where you create the first administrator. After that, normal user accounts are used for login.

Can multiple users have different permissions?

Yes. An administrator can create additional users and change their roles. This allows some users to work normally, while others can only read information without changing anything.

Can I create a tyre set directly from a customer?

Yes. The customer card shows the customer’s tyre sets. From there, you can open an existing set or create a new one with that customer already selected.

Can I print both labels and receipts?

Yes. From the tyre set, you can print labels, and the receipt can be printed as a separate document. In Administration, you can also customize the receipt title, information text, footer and logo.

Can I export my customer register?

Yes. Administrators can export customers to CSV. You can use this function if you want to continue working with the customer list outside the program.

Can I import data from previous Hjulius versions?

Yes. Administrators can import older database formats and there is also support for CSV workflows.

Do I need to use ZPL to print tyre labels?

No, but ZPL is often the best and easiest option for normal label printing. If you choose text printing, you need to check and adjust the printer settings yourself in Windows.

Where can I find drivers for my Zebra printer?

Download the latest official drivers directly from Zebra’s support page.

How do I update the program?

If a new update is available, the program may show a message when it starts. You can also check this from Administration.

  1. Download the update using the link in the message.
  2. Close Hjulius Solo.
  3. Run the downloaded update file.
  4. Choose the same installation folder as before so the old version is replaced correctly.
Is the program cloud-based?

No. Hjulius Solo is a local program. All data stays on your own computer.

Do we need internet to use the program?

No. The program does not need internet for activation or for daily use. Internet is only used for software updates.

Where are our customer and tyre records stored?

Locally, on the computer where the program is installed. Nothing is sent to the cloud.

Can several people use the program?

Yes. The program supports multiple user accounts on the same installation. Each person signs in with their own account and their own permissions.

Can we install Hjulius Solo on several computers in our company?

Yes. The licence is per customer and covers as many installations as you wish. Each installation has its own local database, however – for example, if you have two departments, both get their own independent systems with no synchronisation.

Is data synchronised between several computers?

No. Hjulius Solo is not a networked or multi-computer system.

Which operating system is required?

Windows.

Which printers does it work with?

Zebra label printers.

How is backup handled?

The customer is responsible for backups. The program has built-in features that make the routine easier.

Is it safe to keep all data locally?

Yes. Because nothing leaves your computer, all customer data stays inside your business.

How do I reset the administrator account?

Contact Formac to receive a recovery code.
